A PENSIONER has been handed a 12-month community order for his threatening behaviour towards two men.

Patrick Toomey, 66, of Blackpool Road, Ashton, Preston, appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court.

He admitted using “threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour”, with the intent to cause “harassment, alarm or distress” to one man on October 1 last year.

He also admitted using “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour” to another victim, intending to cause him to believe “immediate unlawful violence would be used against him” on October 3.

Toomey had denied committing the offences, but changed his plea to guilty on both counts. Two further charges were dismissed by the court.

Magistrates told Toomey he must attended appointments with a probation officer for 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.
