A PARAGLIDER has been killed in an accident in Lancashire’s countryside.

Emergency services were called shortly after noon yesterday to Well Springs, Sabden, near Clitheroe, where the victim had been paragliding with a friend.

It is understood he fell about 30ft to the ground after the canopy of his glider collapsed.

Police, paramedics, the air ambulance and mountain rescue teams attended the scene but the 48-year-old man, from Lytham, was pronounced dead.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The man’s relatives have been informed.

Any witnesses are asked to call Lancashire Police on 101.
