An elderly woman has suffered burns in a bedroom fire at her home.
Firefighters smashed their way into the ground floor flat in Northbrook Gardens, off Bannister Drive, Leyland, at noon on Saturday and found the woman, who has not been named, unconscious.
Station manager Steve Docherty: “The woman was unconscious and had suffered burns to her body and was transferred to hospital. At the moment we are unsure how the fire has started and a full investigation has been launched with the police.”
The fire was contained with the bedroom but the rest of the flat has suffered severe smoke damage. The police and fire investigators were at the scene on Saturday afternoon.
