New date for Preston nightclub licence review

Lava and Ignite, Church Street in Preston

Lava and Ignite, Church Street in Preston

A Preston nightclub which is to have £500,000 invested in it as part of a huge refurbishment has had a new date set for a licensing hearing.

Lava and Ignite, in Church Street, was due to have its licence reviewed earlier this year after police raised concerns about some incidents at the premises.

But the hearing was adjourned after bosses told Town Hall licensing chiefs they were intending to fully refurbish the venue.

A new date of June 5 has been set for the matter to come back before the council.

Luminar Leisure, which runs the club, has signed a 10-year lease deal for the club with the building’s owner and now plans to make the major investment.

Meanwhile, the Evening Post revealed earlier this month that major national restaurant chains are eyeing the former Odeon building next door to the nightclub.

The buildings are owned by city tycoon Simon Rigby.
