New chief executive at County Hall
The new chief executive has taken over at Lancashire County Council and taken up a £190,000 salary.
Ged Fitzgerald, a married father-of-one, has on Monday settled into his County Hall office at England's fourth largest council.
He is charged with overseeing 44,000 staff and a 1.4bn budget in an area stretching from Chorley to Carnforth and from Wesham to Whalley.
He will be expected to keep an expert eye on the council's major services including schools, social services, roads and libraries.
