Mystery cat gets stuck behind meter

Latest news

Latest news

Firefighters had to cut free a cat which sneaked into a student’s house and got stuck in a cupboard.

The tabby cat entered a downstairs bedroom at a terraced house in Eldon Street, Plungington, Preston, and got wedged behind a wooden board in a meter cupboard.

The student called firefighters after being unable to free the frightened pet, at 9am yesterday.

A crew unscrewed the board to set the cat loose.

The firefighters handed the animal over to RSPCA staff, who were trying to trace the owner.

Crew manager John Leach of Preston Fire Station said: “The occupiers said it was not their cat and they had no idea where the cat came from.

“The student heard it miaowing from behind the cupboard and called us.”
