Metal is targeted

Neighbours in a city suburb claim people are stealing metal items out their gardens for scrap.

People who live in the Moor Nook area of Ribbleton, Preston, claim scrap metal vans are cruising the streets looking for metal.

They have told the area’s Pact (Police and Community Together) meeting people are entering their gardens and taking metal without their permission.

Residents also reported youths are frequently seen drinking alcohol on the streets and causing antisocial behaviour as well as cycling in dark clothes without lights at night.

An update on the problems was given at a Pact meeting which took place at the housing office in Langdon Drive, Ribbleton, yesterday.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place during the first week in February.

For more information on the meetings call police in Moor Nook on 01772 01772 797631 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
