Man stands accused of rape
A MAN has given a harrowing account of the sexual abuse he says he suffered at the hands of an acquaintance.
Alan Mayor, 41, stands trial accused of rape and indecent assault on the boy when the youngster was still at primary school.
The man, who is now in his 20s, said the abuse only stopped when Mayor was convicted of similar offences and contact with the family stopped.
In a recorded interview the man told the court he had suffered ill health and depression after his ordeal. He told Preston Crown Court how Mayor “forced himself” on him on a number of occasions both at his own house and Mayor’s mother’s house in Lancaster. He said: “He would try to bribe me with different things to not say ‘owt. It wasn’t because of the bribes I didn’t say anything.”
He said when Mayor was taken in by the police on other matters it was a relief the abuse had stopped but he said he did not tell his parents because they “bottle things up.”
The man said the assaults left him in tears, telling the court: “It was scary what he was doing. It was hard for me to understand.”
The man said Mayor, now of Palm Street, Blackburn, raped him once.
