A man was seriously injured after being knocked to the ground in Morecambe.
The 35-year-old local man was found unconscious near a cash machine on Pedder Street at 12.50am on Saturday and was taken to hospital.
He had head injuries and was in a critical but stable condition in Royal Preston Hospital. Police probing the attack said the victim had fallen to the ground after being punched in the face by a man.
Detectives are trying to trace two men and two women who were nearby at the time.
Det Chief Insp Andy Gilbert said: “We are trying to establish the circumstances of exactly what has happened.
“I would appeal to anybody that witnessed this man being assaulted to contact police on 101.”
The victim is 6ft 1in tall and slim, with thick dark hair.
He was wearing a black jumper, black trousers, and Reebok trainers at the time of the incident.
