Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

A boyfriend who came to the aid of his partner after a drink was thrown over her at a nightclub was punched and kicked by two men.

The 23-year-old victim and his girlfriend were leaving Wilbraham Club in Geoffrey Street, off New Hall Lane and Ribbleton Lane, Preston, when the incident happened between 1am and 1.30am on Sunday, February 3.

Police said a man threw a drink over the woman.

When her boyfriend intervened he was punched in the face by the man.

A second man then joined in the attack and punched and kicked the victim.

The woman’s boyfriend suffered a black eye plus cuts and bruises in the assault.

Police described his injuries as minor and said he did not require hospital treatment.

The pair of attackers then fled the scene in a silver Audi convertible car.

Both men are described as white and being in their early 20s.

The first man had short, dark brown hair and was wearing a long black coat, with light trouser bottoms and dark footwear.

The second man was wearing a white baseball cap, a grey and beige hooded top and Nike Air Max trainers.

PC Emma Jackson said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this assault to contact police.”

Anybody with any information about the attack can contact Lancashire Police on 101.

Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not have to go to court.
