A man is being hunted in connection with the rape of a 16-year-old girl two years ago.
Police are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a 26-year-old Hama-Amin Karim, an Iraqi national they need to speak to about a rape in Morecambe.
Today they released a CCTV image of the illegal immigrant in the hope members of public could help to trace him, and revealed he could be working as a barber.
Karim was arrested following a complaint about an attack at an address on Coltsfoot Walk in the resort in October 2011, in which a teenage girl from Lancaster was raped.
He was released on bail pending further enquires but failed to answer his bail and has been wanted by police since December 2011.
Authorities have confirmed Karim does not have permission to be in the UK at present and he is wanted by the Home Office.
Det Sgt Mark Stephens from Lancaster and Morecambe CID said: “Karim could be anywhere in the country, although it is possible he may also have travelled abroad.
“If he is in the UK he is likely to be working in a barber’s shop.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
