Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man indecently exposed himself to a 15-year-old girl in Accrington.

About 9.50pm on Tuesday, February 26, the teenager was walking home when a lone male pulled up in a silver hatchback vehicle at the junction of Annie Street and Foster Street.

He asked the girl for directions, before unzipping his trousers and exposing himself as which point the girl ran home and raised the alarm.

The man is described as white, aged 40 to 50 years old with grey hair and was said to be smartly dressed.

Detective Sergeant Julie Cross said: “This was a very unpleasant experience for the young girl, who has been left shaken by what’s happened: we need to find the person responsible.

“We are appealing for anybody who may have seen a suspicious man or vehicle in the area at the relevant time to contact police. Even the smallest amount of information, which may seem insignificant, could help.”

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
