A man has died after being hit by a train in Preston.
The incident at the level crossing on Gregson Lane, Hoghton, was reported to British Transport Police on Tuesday afternoon.
A BTP spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to the line close to Gregson Lane crossing, Preston, on Tuesday, October 8 following a report that a man had been struck by a train.
“BTP and Lancashire Constabulary officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 3.55pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Medics from North West Ambulance Service also attended the incident, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
Delays of up to 30 minutes were expected between Preston and Blackburn following the incident.
The line was handed back to Network Rail at 4.40pm.
