Man denies park attack in hearing

DOCK: Preston Crown Court

DOCK: Preston Crown Court

A man has denied his part in a machete attack at a city park which left a young man with serious injuries.

The 19-year-old victim was allegedly chased by a gang into Ashton Park in Preston, before being attacked.

He suffered severe injuries to his hand after a gang of men ran after him through Ashton, in November.

It is understood the incident started near Skippers chip shop.

The group eventually caught up with the victim on Ashton Park, just off Ribby Place on the Larches estate, where he was said to have been repeatedly attacked with the weapon.

The victim suffered deep wounds to his wrist which he had raised to protect himself from blows with the knife.

He was later taken to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment to his wrist and detectives from Preston CID launched an investigation.

Adam Chamberlain, 18, of Ainsdale Drive, Ashton, Preston, entered not guilty pleas to charges of wounding with intent to cause GBH and possession of a weapon at Preston Crown Court yesterday.

Chamberlain will next appear before Preston Crown Court for a trial on April 29.
