A man has appeared in court in connection with the botched attempted robbery of a cash delivery van in which a police officer was struck by a car.
The alleged incident happened on Friday September 27 at 10.30am when security guards alerted police of two vehicles following their Mercedes delivery van through Lancaster city centre.
Both cars were quickly intercepted but made off at speed through the city, with a police officer suffering minor injuries when he was struck.
Simon Shaw, 36, of Whitemoss Avenue, Blackpool, is accused of conspiracy to commit robbery and aggravated vehicle taking.
He appeared before Lancaster Magistrates Court on Thursday.
