Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

A man was viciously attacked with a stick as he walked home.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the attempted robbery as the victim walked home from work in Clitheroe on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 8.15pm as the 34-year-old victim was working along Farraday Avenue when he was approached by three young men.

One of the men demanded that he hand over his phone, money and cards. The victim refused and one of the men has then proceeded to hit him with a pole or stick.

The victim shouted for help and all three men then ran away empty handed.

The main offender is described as being black or Asian, aged around 17 or 18, 5ft 8in tall with a goatee beard. He was wearing a baseball cap.

His accomplices are described as being white and around 5ft 10in tall.

Det Sgt Julie Cross from Accrington Reactive CID said: “Fortunately the victim shouted for help and was not seriously injured; neither did the offenders escape with any of his property.” Call 101.
