Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a fractured eye socket after being punched in a church yard in Poulton.

The 39-year-old victim was walking through St Chads Church yard, with his wife, on his way to get some food after a night out in the town centre around 10.45pm, on Friday, January 11.

He was approached by a man who, without apparent provocation, punched him in the face.

DC Carl Pritchard, from Fleetwood CID, said; “This was a nasty assault and I would appeal to anybody that witnessed it or with any information to call Lancashire Police on 101.”

People with information can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
