It has been announced that Leyland St Mary’s Technical College is set to reopen only weeks after a fire which ripped through the Lancashire school.
An announcement on the school website by Headteacher Kathy McNicholas, said “I am delighted to inform parents and pupils that the new school term will start on Monday 16 September. All pupils and staff should report to school at 8.55am and it is our intention that pupils in years 7 and 11 will take their lessons in the surviving classrooms, whilst years 8, 9 and 10 will travel by bus to our “satellite” school in the buildings of the former Ribbleton High School.”
“Please be reassured that pupils will be taught by Leyland St Mary’s staff and will be with their friends in their year group.”
“Obviously whilst this is an exciting development it does mean that pupils will have to remain at home for the week 9 – 13 September.”
