A block of student flats had to be evacuated following a fire in one of the communal kitchens.
Firefighters from Penwortham were called to Leighton Hall on Leighton Street, Preston at 8pm on Saturday to a fire involving a cooker in a kitchen on the fourth floor.
There was 20% fire damage to the cooker and 80% heat damage.
Crews used a positive pressure fan to get rid of the smoke in the kitchen.
They also gave a fire safety talk to the residents living in the flat.
