Jamelia finale to amazing Preston Passion

Pop star Jamelia brought down the curtain on an hour-long broadcast of the Preston Passion on a day to make the city proud.

The MOBO-award winning singer performed Candy Staton’s gospel classic You Got The Love live from Preston bus station.

Fern Britton hosted the live event, which was broadcast on BBC from Preston city centre.

As well as anchoring the live event, Britton introduced three short pre-recorded dramas, being shown simultaneously on a big screen in Preston and on BBC1.

Documentaries were themed around the Passion of Christ, with inspiration drawn from the real lives of Preston residents, now and in the past.

Local choirs sang traditional Easter music, and large-scale choreographed crowd movements across the city re-created “human crosses”.

Jamelia agreed to take part in the Preston Passion earlier this week when M People singer Heather Small had to withdraw due to acute respiratory infection.
