Lancashire’s new bishop Rt Rev Julian Henderson will be inaugurated today.
An event to mark Bishop Julian to the role will be held at Blackburn Cathedral.
It follows his consecration on October 10 at York Minster by the Archbishop of York, The Most Rev and Rt Hon Dr John Sentamu.
Throughout the week Bishop Julian, Bishop of Blackburn, has been travelling across Lancashire.
As the Bishop travels round Lancashire he has been joined by local clergy and parishioners who have been made aware he will be in their local area at a particular time and have been invited to join him in prayer.
One of the Bishop’s visits saw him attend Blackpool Tower and have a tour of the venue, including the iconic ball room.
The Bishop and his wife Heather were then taken to the top of the tower where they took in the fantastic view and also took some time to pray for the town and its people.
Bishop Julian said: “My chief priority in Christian ministry is to share the story of what God has done for all people and call them to take Him seriously in their lives. I love to help others come to faith in Jesus Christ and will want to encourage the many Christian communities around the diocese to engage in that outward-looking task.
“On this vigil I am praying for all aspects of the life of the county and the church.”
