Fine for man with cannabis

A man who was found in possession of cannabis and failed to stop his car for police has been fined £140. Nisar Mahmood Khan, 27, of Dove Street, Preston, pleaded guilty to possession of a quantity of the Class B drug. Preston magistrates ruled that the 27-year-old must also pay a victim surcharge of £20 and cover court costs of £85. The cannabis was forfeited and will be destroyed.

Woman to pay over window

A woman has been fined £75 for smashing a window in Preston. Melissa Hewitson, of St Thomas Street, Deepdale, Preston, appeared before Preston magistrates. The 22-year-old admitted criminal damage after the 
incident on September 9. The court ordered Hewitson to pay a victim surcharge of £15. She also must cover court costs of £50.
