Shoplifter took whisky bottle

A shoplifter who stole a £12 bottle of whisky from a supermarket has been handed a 28-day home curfew. Peter Fallon, 42, of Creswell Avenue, Ingol, Preston, pleaded guilty to stealing the alcohol from an Iceland store on January 27 this year. Preston Magistrates’ Court said Fallon must remain at home between the hours of 7pm and 7am each day until March 12.

Driver did not have insurance

A motorist caught driving without insurance has been fined £600. Mohammad Anwar, 20, of Linnet Street, Deepdale, Preston, was proved guilty in his absence at Preston Magistrates’ Court of committing the offence on July 25, 2012. Magistrates gave Anwar six penalty points for driving an uninsured Renault Clio in Guild Way, Preston, and ordered him to pay £85 costs.

Speeding motorcyclist

A speeding motorcyclist avoided being banned from the road because of ‘mitigating circumstances’. Stephen Booth, 54, of Garstang Road, Barton, near Preston, admitted breaking the 30mph speed limit in Garstang Road, Broughton, near Preston, on a Yamaha motorbike on July 15 last year. Preston Magistrates’ Court fined Booth £35 and handed him three penalty points. Magistrates also told him to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £50 court costs. But they decided not to give Booth a ‘totting-up’ disqualification after they heard he had health problems, had just started a new job after two years of being off work while sick and lived in a remote area.

Home order for stealing cash

A woman has been put under a curfew for stealing money and failing to pay for a taxi journey. Amanda Wane, 49, of Egan Street, Preston, must remain at her home for 20 days, between 8pm and 8pm, after admitting stealing £40 from her victim. She also failed to pay for a taxi journey in December last year. Wane must pay £49 compensation to her victim, and a £60 victim surcharge.

Curfew after perfume theft

A man has been put under a four-week curfew after admitting stealing perfume from a shop. Daniel Hughes, 29, of Arkwright Road, Preston, admitting two incidents of stealing perfume from Debenhams. The goods were worth almost £500 in total. He must remain at home between 7pm and 7am.

Road ban for drink driver

A man has been banned from the road for five years after driving while under the influence of alcohol. Paul Allen, 37, of Gaskell Road, Penwortham, also had no insurance. He was fined £125, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85, after admitting driving with 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Unpaid work for assault

A man must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work after damaging a telephone and assaulting a woman. Andrew Thompson, 26, of Clarendon Road, Morecambe, was put under a 12-month community order by Preston Magistrates’ Court and must pay a victim surcharge of £60.
