Motorist didn’t wear seatbelt

A motorist caught driving while not wearing a seatbelt has been ordered to pay out £300 by magistrates. Ryan Snape, 24, of Hedgerows Road, Leyland, who was proved guilty in his absence at South Ribble Magistrates’ Court of an offence committed on July 26 last year, was fined £200 plus court costs.

Woman fined for no licence

A woman has been fined £55 after she was caught using a TV without a licence. Geraldine Benson, 36, of Herbert Street, Leyland, was proved guilty in her absence at South Ribble Magistrates’ Court of the offence committed on November 19, 2012.

Pubs fail test purchase drive

Police say three of five pubs visited in Longridge sold alcohol to underage youngsters during a recent test operation. Trading standards, police and teenage volunteers carried out the test operation on February 15. A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were able to buy bottles and pints of beer at the pubs.

Man in court over charge

Police say a Preston man suspected of attempted shoplifting in Longridge’s Booth’s store on February 18, is due in court. The man allegedly later went on to Clitheroe. He will appear before magistrates in Chorley on March 13 charged with shoplifting offences.

Work order for man with knife

A man who was found in possession of a lock knife when stopped on Ringway, Preston, must perform 160 hours of unpaid work. John Waddicar, 40, of Alder Road, Ribbleton, Preston, pleaded guilty to the offence at Preston Magistrates Court. The bench ruled he must pay a £60 victim surcharge and 385 costs. The knife was forfeited and will be destroyed.

Woman thief gets curfew

A woman who stole £229 of clothes from Marks and Spencer in Preston has been given a 120 day curfew. Donna Louise Heaton, 35, of Glebe Close, Fulwood, Preston admitted the theft and had another offence taken into consideration by magistrates. She must also pay a £60 victim surcharge.

Man must pay woman cash

A man who assaulted a woman must pay her £25 compensation. John Cookson 18, of Parsange Avenue, Ribchester, near Preston, pleaded guilty to assault at Preston Magistrates Court. He must pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.
