Beer thief in phone damage

A man who stole beer was given a jail sentence, Paul Watson, 32, of Pall Mall, Chorley, admitted stealing Stella Artois and destroying a mobile phone. Preston magistrates jailed him for four weeks but he was released after the court heard he had already spent 51 days on remand.

Court fine for cannabis man

Preston magistrates have fined a man caught with eight bags of cannabis. David Barker, 28, of Blackpool Road, Ribbleton, Preston, admitted possession of the Class B drug. He was fined £30 with £50 costs and a £15 surcharge.

Drink driver is fined at court

A Fulwood man has admitted drink driving. Preston magistrates fined Christopher Borwick £100. The 35-year-old, of Merton Avenue, was banned from driving for a year.

Police officer assault fine

A teenager admitted assaulting a police officer. Leanne Marwood, 18, of Mersey Street, Longridge, was fined £50 by Preston magistrates.

Coffee thief sent to prison

A man who stole chocolates, coffee and cheese from cornershops has been jailed. Lee Kirkham, 25, of Rowan Avenue, Grange, Preston, admitted theft of items from Tesco Express and Spar in Fulwood. Preston magistrates jailed Kirkham for 120 days after hearing he had a record of previous offences.
