Jail threat to order breaker

A man who broke a restraining order banning him from contacting another person has been given a suspended jail term. Frankie Kyle Hawkins, 22, of Hawthorn Road in Ribbleton, Preston, was handed a 26-week sentence, suspended for a year after pleading guilty to the offence to magistrates in the city.

Motorist fined after offence

Bamber Bridge motorist Brigitta Csatlos has been fined £200 after admitting driving without insurance. The 27-year-old, of Barleyfield, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and was also given eight penalty points on her driving licence by Preston magistrates. She was also ordered to pay £65 costs.

Food thief hit with discharge

A Preston woman who stole £150 of shopping from a supermarket has been given a conditional discharge. Hazel Marie Slee, 39, of Gisburn Road, Brookfield, admitted stealing the groceries from Asda and was given a six-month order by magistrates in the city.

Speeding ban for motorist

A driver has been banned from the road for six months after he was caught speeding. Philip Gavin, 55, of Millbank, Fulwood, Preston, admitted breaking a 50mph speed limit in Blackpool Road, Preston, on April 24 this year in a Ford Mondeo. Preston Magistrates’ Court disqualified Gavin from driving for six months. Magistrates also fined him £35 and ordered him to pay £50 court costs.

Shoplifter took cleaning tools

A shoplifter who stole a power washer and vacuum cleaner has been handed a 12-month community order. Shaun McDonnell, 24, of Stratford Road, Chorley, admitted the theft in Preston on September 4. But he was found not guilty at Preston Magistrates’ Court of having a Samurai-style knife in Ripon Street, Plungington, Preston, on the same day.
