Cabbie is fined over phone call
A taxi driver who was caught driving while on his mobile phone has been fined £200. Dawood Patel, 56, of Callon Street, Preston, must pay a surcharge of £15 and £85 costs. The case was proved in his absence at Preston Magistrates Court. He received three points.
Thief is jailed after assault
A man who stole a bottle of Sambuca from a Preston pub and assaulted a man has been jailed for a week. Gary David Wane, 24, of North Cliff Street, Preston, pleaded guilty to assault and theft at Preston Magistrates’ Court. He must pay £200 compensation to his victim. The bench said he had a disregard for court orders.
Supervision for assault man
A man who admitted assaulting a woman has been given a community order with nine-months supervision. Daniel Adam Trigwell, 22, of Fylde Road, Preston, appeared before Preston magistrates. He must pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Motorist had no insurance
A motorist has been fined £600 for having no insurance. Paul Sargeant, 37, of Pasture Field Close, Leyland, was convicted in his absence by magistrates in South Ribble. He must also pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. He was given six penalty points.
Fine for having class B drug
Possessing cannabis has cost a Lostock Hall man £100. Andrew Sinclair, 32, of Pages Court, admitted possession. South Ribble magistrates ordered he pay £85 costs and a £15 surcharge. He was discharged for a year.
Speeder ends up before court
A speeder has been fined £45. Rebecca Bradley, 34, of Old Hall Drive, Bamber Bridge, admitted breaking the speed limit in Euxton. Chorley magistrates gave her three penalty points and told her to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
Woman fined over licence
Magistrates have fined a woman for driving without a licence. Natalie Rawlinson, 28, of Liverpool Road, Longton, was convicted in her absence and fined £200.
Man stole cash from neighbour
A man who stole cash from his neighbour twice in the same month has been ordered to pay him £20 compensation and carry out 40 hours of unpaid work. Graham Stephen Seefus, 39, of Maitland Street, Ribbleton, Preston, must also pay a £60 victim surcharge after pleading guilty to two offences of theft in a hearing at Preston Magistrates’ Court. Both incidents were in November.
Five joints of beef stolen
A man who stole five joints of beef, worth £37.38 from Morrisons, has been given a 12-month conditional discharge by Preston magistrates. Lee Cherry, 37, of West Park Avenue, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, must pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £50 after pleading guilty to theft.
Compensation for attack man
A man has been given a six- week jail term, suspended for 12 months, after admitting assaulting a man. Paul Jones, 27, of Duke Street, Avenham, Preston, must also undergo 12-months supervision and pay £100 compensation to his victim.
