Detectives are appealing for information about a car they believe was involved in a robbery where a woman and her children were tied up.

On February 11, four men burst into a house on Halfpenny Lane in Longridge just after 4.30pm and threatened a woman and her two children before stealing firearms.

The woman and her two boys, aged eight and 10, were threatened and tied up.

The robbers, who were armed with knives, made off in a white transit van with firearms including a pump action shot-gun, a deer rifle and a foxing rifle as well as ammunition.

Det Insp Paddy O’Neill from Preston CID said: “We believe that the people responsible for this robbery had access to the pictured silver Ford Fiesta, registration number MV04YZJ, which was recovered in Liverpool last month.

“We know the car was in Preston at the time the offence was committed and we believe it was parked up somewhere in Preston between 6pm on Tuesday February 11 and Thursday February 13.

“One hypothesis that we are working through is that the vehicle was abandoned near the Royal Preston Hospital; the other being that it was left somewhere near Deepdale Retail Park.”

Three men aged 23, 24 and 34 from Preston and a 20 year old man from Liverpool were arrested and subsequently bailed. Call 101.
