This is the catalogue of shoplifters police are appealing for public help to identify.

Detectives say four out of every five shoplifters in Morecambe have been caught following a recent crackdown on the problem.

Officers have been running a targeted operation over the last few months in order to reduce incidents of shoplifting at stores in the resort. The rate of detections for shoplifting offences – where an offender is charged with an offence – is currently 83 per cent. Now police want the public’s help to identify these suspected thieves.

Included in the CCTV footage are two women with a dog at Next on Central Drive on July 27. A pair of shoes was taken. Next are two men pictured at the Co-Op, Heysham Road, Heysham, on July 16. Medication and condoms were stolen.

Two women and a man are also pictured at Booths in Carnforth on July 10. Around £400 worth of groceries were taken. A man was pictured at Carnforth service station on June 21 when breakfast wrap was taken from the store. Next, two men are pictured at Asda, Ovangle Road, Lancaster, on June 7. Televisions were taken. Finally, a man is pictured at the Co-Op on Regent Road, Morecambe, on June 3. Packets of bacon were stolen.

PC Iain Arnott, Morecambe police, said: “Shoplifting can have a really detrimental effect on local businesses and if a store is repeatedly targeted there can be serious financial implications.”
