Horse meat labelled as beef has been found in Preston.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) confirmed it had been told by a laboratory run by Lancashire County Council that it has identified 100g of horse meat imported from Hungary labelled as beef.

The meat was imported by Hungarian Food Ltd in Preston and investigations showed that 40kg were sold through their own stall in Preston, and through another shop in Liverpool called Taste of Hungary.

They FSA say the meat, sold in 1kg bags labelled as ‘diced beef’, has been withdrawn from sale.
