Two house were left badly smoke damaged after a fire broke out in a garage.

Firefighters from Fulwood and Preston stations were called to Heaton Mount Avenue in Fulwood shortly after 10.30pm on Friday.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the fire started in an attached garage and smoke quickly spread into the home and a neighbouring property.

He said the owners had raised the alarm after smelling smoke.

Crews were at the scene for more than two hours and an investigation into the cause of the blaze was launched on Saturday morning.
