Have a say on city dog lead orders

editorial image

Preston residents have until the end of the month to voice their opinions on the council’s proposed Dog on Leads Order.

The order would mean dogs would have to be restrained in designated public areas.

Under the plans, dog owners would be liable for a fine if they flouted the rules, which include keeping dogs on a lead of less than six feet unless there is a reasonable excuse or permission is granted to take the dog off the lead.

There will also be a requirement for dog owners to be in control of their pet at all times.

Full details of the proposals, including maps outlining the designated areas, are available by logging on to Preston City Council’s website.

A consultation form is also online with the final deadline being October 31.
