A schoolgirl has been invited to sing at the House of Lords as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Chloe McLaughlan, 14, who lives in Tarleton, near Preston, teamed up with London-based songwriter Rod Aylen who has written a song called ‘This Is The Dream’ for the 2012 Olympics.

She performed the song at the North West launch of the Pink Shoe Club, a women’s networking group, in January.

Members of the audience included Jill Pay, Serjeant at Arms of the House of Lords, and former Olympic athlete Tessa Sanderson, who was given a copy of the song.

Chloe, a member of the Birkdale Orpheus Society, now hopes people will download the tune online and help boost its profile.

The Bishop Rawstorne CE Academy pupil, who has been singing for just over a year, said: “I’m on such an exciting journey and I feel so privileged to have met so many wonderful people.”

Since January 31, the video has had 7,977 views on YouTube and has attracted a raft of positive comments. It is also available on iTunes and Chloe is hoping people will download the song so it can climb the charts.

Her mum Gill said: “I would like to thank Rod Aylen, the producer, for giving Chloe the opportunity to sing such a wonderful song.

“I am really proud of Chloe. For her age, she has shown so much composure and determination.

“We need local support and the song can be downloaded via iTunes under Chloe McLaughlan and can also be viewed on YouTube.”

Chloe has also been invited to become a young member of the Pink Shoe Club.
