Get set for bike challenge

A FREE challenging bike ride is set to take place in South Ribble on Sunday.

Ride Strong Plus is coming to the borough as part of a national campaign including free events, activities, information and support to help and inspire people to re-discover the fun of bike riding.

Since 2009 this campaign has provided thousands of free cycling opportunities and now 1 million more people are cycling regularly.

The challenge will set off from the South Ribble Council officers on West Paddock at 9am on Sunday.

Jill Puttnam, British Cycling’s National Operations Manager, said: “The recreational rides are led by British Cycling trained Ride Leaders, who give thousands of people a great group riding experience every year. Many participants on Sky Ride Local rides go on to do more independent riding and form their own social cycling group.”

The rides are free adult-only rides that cover 20 to 50 miles at a speedy pace and have a few hills thrown in for good measure – ideal for people who want to take their cycling to the next level.
