Preston Magistrates Court

A woman who committed a £28,000 benefit fraud has been ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work.

Hope Elizabeth Collins, 24, of Seymour Street, Chorley, was also given eight weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months.

She failed to notify the authorities between 2008 and 2013 she was living with a partner. The change in circumstances affected her claims for income support, council tax benefit, and housing benefit.

Preston magistrates ordered her to pay an £80 surcharge and £85 costs after she pleaded guilty.
