Detectives are hunting a robber who held an ex soldier at knifepoint as he made his way to a Preston benefits office to sign on.

The victim, who was on his way to Preston Job centre, told police the robber snatched his rucksack which contained important paperwork he needed to make his benefit claim after returning from active duty.

The incident happened in an alleyway between College Court and Ellen Court close to the Dulux Decorators centre on Garstang Road at around 1.30pm on October 15.

He described the robber as black, around 6ft 5in, with a pock marked face and wearing blue clothing. Call police on 101.
