Former Preston North End skipper Sean Gregan has paid tribute to Sir Tom Finney.
During his time with the club, Gregan recalls how Sir Tom was a regular figure around Deepdale and was highly respected by everyone who he came into contact with.
Gregan said: “The word legend is used a lot in football.
“But Sir Tom Finney WAS a legend – not just at Preston North End but throughout football.
“When I was at North
End, we would see him
around the club and at the stadium.
“Gary Peters and David Moyes would often seek him out to have a chat about football and get a bit of advice off him.
“If we did a training session at Deepdale, Sir Tom would be around and happy to
talk – he was just a normal bloke who loved football,” he added.
“When someone mentions Preston North End, they immediately think of Sir
Tom Finney and his name will live on.
“There is the stand named after him, the statue, and the Preston supporters won’t ever forget him.”
