Ferry sailings may leave county
The Ben-My-Chree ferry owned by The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is considering plans to move most of its operations from Heysham to Liverpool.
The company runs boats for passengers and freight to Douglas, on the Isle of Man, from Heysham.
But bosses at the company say it has a longstanding link with Liverpool and, following passenger research, the city has emerged as a “clear choice”.
Liverpool has better transport links, the research showed.

Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:48 PMYes I agree Romany the historical boundery,s are still there. There is no such district as Mersyside. It is just an administrive name. Liverpool is Lanncashire.

Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:24 PMIf you ignore the meddling of government in 1974 you will find that Liverpool is in the historical county of Lancashire.

Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:15 PMThe IOMSP Co has complained in the past about the silting of the approaches to Heysham which is owned by Peel Holdings who have major interests in Liverpool docks. What is the point of the Heysham Link road if Heysham port is declining?

Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 08:31 PMI dont like the sound of this....Heysham is easier to get to than either Liverpool or Birkenhead. I much prefer Heysham - even if going to destinations south of Preston....Liverpool is awkward and Birkenhead a bit far out.
