A special event is to be held for anyone considering becoming a foster carer.

The team from charity Community Foster Care will be on hand at Barton Grange Garden Centre, Garstang Road, Brock on Sunday January 12 between 11am and 4pm to answer questions about fostering, as well as providing arts and crafts and facepainting sessions for children.

Emma Weaver, Registered Manager of Community Foster Care, based at Nateby, said: “The family fun day is an opportunity for anyone interested in fostering to have an informal chat whilst the children are entertained.”

There are more than 1,300 children in Lancashire in need of foster carers, and the number is rising.

Foster carers come from all walks of life and can be single, married or divorced; male or female. They must be aged 25-70.

Emma said: “If you want to join an agency that feels like a large family with a high level of support, that is what Community Foster Care is about.”
