Exciting plot for Liz

CORONATION Street favourite Liz McDonald promised exciting times ahead as she was reunited with her soap family in Blackpool.

But as TV bosses revealed that the plot will include a tragic death, she stayed tight-lipped about who might be recording their final ever scenes.

The McDonald clan, gathered together for the first time since Jim was jailed for manslaughter, are set to dodge the police and sail the seas as part of next month's dramatic storyline.

Breaking off from shooting scenes at the Newton Hall Holiday Centre in Staining, actress Beverley Callard who plays Liz, said it was great to be back in Blackpool.

Stars including legendary Rovers landlady Bet Gilroy, played by Julie Goodyear, and John Savident who plays Fred Elliot are also included in the plot. Steve has tracked down his mother to a pub in Blackpool where she is pulling pints in a town centre pub 'The Black Dog', owned by a lecherous landlord Laurie Dyson, played by Andrew Dunn.

Elsewhere Bet steps onto the Golden Mile for a Newton and Ridley bash and bumps into Fred and Cecil Newton, sparking more possible romance. Also making an appearance are Ashley and his nanny Claire who are in Blackpool with Joshua.

A Corrie spokeswoman said: "Fans will be on the edge of their seats when the week long Blackpool adventure reaches an extraordinary finale involving a dramatic sea rescue and a tragic death."
