A killer on the run from prison has been spotted twice in the Preston area.
Brian Lynch, 44, was sentenced to life in jail for the murder of 21-year-old Chi Keung Yip in Clayton Vale, Manchester, in March 1988.
Lynch was moved to Kirkham’s open prison in December to serve the remainder of his sentence.
He absconded after a day trip to Preston city centre and was last seen on Thursday at around 3pm in Market Street.
But officers are now also investigating two potential sightings of him, one at Preston Bus Station at just after 3pm, and a second in Stanley Grove in Penwortham at around 5.15pm.
Det Chief Insp Andy Gilbert said: “As a result of further enquiries made since Lynch absconded, there is a possibility that he may become a risk to the public the longer he is away from prison.
“We would urge people not to approach him if they do see him, but to call police immediately.
“I want to reassure people that we have a team of officers dedicated to finding Lynch and who will be following up every single lead or sighting of him so I would ask anyone who thinks they have seen him to call us.
“Although he could still be in Lancashire, there is a possibility he may have travelled back to the Greater Manchester area.
“We would ask the public to be vigilant and report any sightings to the police. Any details the public may have could be crucial.”
Lynch is described as 5ft, stocky, with blue eyes and short, cropped ginger hair. He may have ginger and grey stubble.
He was wearing black trousers, a black jacket and dirty grey suede and leather trainers.
