Police at the scene of a collision on Sharoe Green Lane

A man was taken to hospital after two cars were involved in a collision in Fulwood.

The incident involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a blue Toyota Yaris happened in Sharoe Green Lane at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

Fire crews, police and an ambulance were called to the scene and firefighters helped the ambulance service in freeing the male driver from the Astra after cutting the roof off the car and putting him on a stretcher.

The female driver of the Toyota was not thought to have been injured in the accident.

The road was closed near St Vincent’s Road during the rescue operation.

The cause of the accident is under investigation and police asked any witnesses to call 101.
