An arsonist who killed four siblings in a house fire has been jailed for life with a minimum term of nine years and three months.
Dyson Allen was barely able to stand in the dock at Preston Crown Court on Friday as he shook and sobbed.
The 19-year-old, who is a former garage apprentice, was found guilty of the manslaughter of Reece Smith, 19, his twin sisters Ella and Holly and brother Jordan, two, in Freckleton in January last year.
Speaking after the case, the children’s mother Michelle Smith said: “Dyson Allen’s actions led to the deaths of Reece, Holly, Ella and Jordan.
“Why or what he did, we still do not know.
“We have to live with the loss of the children each and every day. Dyson Allen has shown no remorse or regret for his actions, still refusing to tell us, what exactly happened.
“Every birthday that I have – will be the anniversary of my children’s deaths.
“Over the past 18 months we have received a truly wonderful level of support from the police – Det Ch Supt Horrigan, the enquiry team and in particular family liaison officers, Lisa and Ian.
“We thank them all for their professionalism and commitment during the investigation. We wish to thank the Crown Prosecution Service, the heroic attempts of the fire service, paramedics and medical staff.”
