Workers will protest outside the DVLA office in Preston as part of a fight to keep it open.
Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union have confirmed they will stage a protest outside the office on Caxton Road, Fulwood from 12.30pm until 1.30pm on Tuesday.
The action will see 58 members of staff take part, including 30 based at the office in the city.
It follows the Government’s announcement in December that it plans to shut the Agency’s network of 39 offices across the country putting 1,200 jobs at risk, including 150 in the North West.
PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: “We will not sit back and watch while jobs and highly-prized public services are stripped away.
“Our local economies are crying out for support and investment, not more cuts.
“The closure plans are not based on what the people who use these services say they want and need, but on a politically motivated desire to unpick our public services.”
The demonstration in Preston will coincide with similar protests outside DVLA offices in Carlisle, Chester and Cumbria.
