A thief stole jewellery from a woman she was visiting because she was annoyed the woman kept getting her name wrong.

Kayleigh Roe, 23, admitted theft after taking items from the home of Judith Barker, after spending the evening drinking with her.

Roe, of Ashworth Street, Bamber Bridge, visited the house with a group of friends but began bickering with the householder.

When Miss Barker fell asleep, Roe went into the bedroom to get a DVD but began rifling through boxes and stole a number of items of jewellery.

The following morning she was visited by PC Carl Exley.

She admitted she had taken the jewellery as she felt Miss Barker had been ‘having a go at her’ and kept calling her Kelly.

The jewellery was recovered and taken back to Miss Barker, who confirmed it was hers.

South Ribble Magistrates fined her £70 and ordered her to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
