A drop-off point has been created outside a Lancashire school in a bid to help prevent road accidents.

The scheme, which will launch on Monday, has been set up at St Mary and Michael Catholic Primary School in Garstang, after staff and parents expressed concerns about parking outside the school.

Lancashire Partnership Against Crime has also funded high-visibility jackets for staff to wear while running the drop-off scheme.

PCSO John Holland of Garstang and Over Wyre neighbourhood policing team said: “The school is on a busy main road and suffers from a lack of parking. While there have been no accidents at the school, we were keen to address the issues to ensure this remains the case. The new scheme will make it easier for parents to drop off their children and ensure that they can enter the school safely.”
