A motorist who almost struck a group of pedestrians on a busy Preston road has been fined.
Michael Ian Hatton, 38, of Leesands Close, Fulwood, Preston, admitted driving without due care and attention.
Preston Magistrates heard on August 19, at around 1.35pm, he was seen by a police officer driving a Mercedes car at speed.
The officer started to follow him.
The motorist had to brake sharply to avoid hitting pedestrians crossing Blackpool Road from the football ground side of the road.
He then drove at speed through a traffic junction and almost hit another car waiting to turn right.
He then reached another junction and had to brake sharply to avoid hitting stationary traffic, the bench heard.
He was ordered to pay a £265 fine, a £27 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
He also received six penalty points on his licence.
