Drink-drive car on show

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

The mangled car of a drink-drive victim will be on display at UCLan’s Foster Car Park, off Corporation Street, Preston, later this month.

Janet and Andrew Alston have spoken about the devastating effect drink driving has had on their lives after their 18 year-old-son Matthew was killed two years ago.

Matthew drove to a friend’s house in Read, East Lancashire, still unknowingly drunk the morning after a night out.

The Simonstone teenager’s car is being displayed in Preston as part of a police and Lancashire County Council campaign.

Mr and Mrs Alston said: “Matthew drove without realising the amount of alcohol still in his body. This Morning After campaign highlights the true effects of drinking and driving.”
