PLANS: The proposals are for a unit in The Old Mill, Bamber Bridge

Dog owners in Bamber Bridge could soon have a new place to send their beloved pets for the day – after plans for a doggy day care centre were put forward.

The proposals are for a unit within The Old Mill in School Lane, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, and have been submitted by Mark McMullan of the K9-Club.

The 1,600 sq ft unit, is currently split into office and warehouse space and it was previously used as a warehouse for selling second- hand clothing.

The new K9 Club dog day care centre is a place for owners to send their dogs while they are at work or out during the day.

A planning application submitted to South Ribble Council said that the unit will be used for dog grooming, feeding, walking and agility.

There are currently 20 parking spaces available at the site and the applicant proposes to use all of those spaces.

There’s a number of other units at the industrial estate run by a variety of different businesses.

The company aims to offer a friendly caring environment to the dogs, providing stimulation, exercise and help in socialisation.

The new centre will be open from 7.30am until 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

A decision on the plans will be made by South Ribble Council in the coming weeks.
