Diana award for aspiring students
Two Chorley pupils are to receive awards named in memory of Princess Diana.
Tiffany Wells, 13, and Charlotte Birkett, 16, attend St Michael's High School and will travel to London in July to be presented with a Diana Award.
The special accolade was launched in 1999 in memory of Diana Princess of Wales and is presented to young people who improve the lives of others.
Proud headteacher Chris Bagguley said: "Education is not just about examination results, it is about the development of the whole young person - about encouraging young people to be the best they can.
"That is a challenge to everyone, but even more of a challenge when facing additional situations which make life more complicated.
"The Diana Awards are presented to young people who demonstrate resilience and a positive attitude in the face of a wide range of difficult circumstances.
"We are delighted that two pupils from St Michael's have not only been selected to receive an award, but have also been invited to be presented with their awards at an official ceremony in London.
"Both pupils have coped with illness in such a positive way that they are a glowing example to the whole school community.
"We are all immensely proud of them."
